If you’re still in the market for a late Christmas present then here are five tried and tested products that would look great in the fat man’s sack.

Snow Peak Titanium Hip Flask

This little pocket rocket is the first thing packed on every trip and is often used to celebrate any decent cod capture. It’s a Titanium Hip Flask from the Japanese brand, Snow Peak and comes in two sizes – 147ml and 177ml.

Just in case we have a particularly lucky trip we own the 177ml model.

It is built from ultra-light titanium for durability and includes a small plastic funnel so you can limit any spillage when you top up on the run.

We also like how the bombproof titanium construction doesn’t leak a metallic taste into your chosen poison. It’s also naturally corrosion resistant which extends your flask’s longevity… Our guess is you will lose it before you break it.

Costa – Reefton

If you have a massive melon or just like a crisp and clear set of wrap around fishing frames than check out Norb’s review of the Costa Reefton frames.

Luke at Outback Angler in Dubbo has a huge range of Costa sunnies and is always open to posting product interstate. Give him a buzz (02) 6881 8179 or visit their website www.outbackangler.com.au

Jackall Gantia – New Colours

The 18cm Jackall Gantia is probably the most underestimated swimbait in the Jackall range. Lucky for us we know about their big fish pulling powers and went crazy with the new colours that landed in Australia this month.

A personal favourite is the Peacock colour that looks strikingly like a European carp when it weaves it’s way back to the rod tip. The hooks and split rings have also been upgraded so you don’t need to worry about retrofitting other hooks to make them ‘cod strong’.

For a good look at the entire rage check out Harry from Jackall introducing the colour range at AFTA this year.

Jetboil Flash

If you’re as addicted to coffee as much as we are you’ll know why we never forget to pack the Jetboil on every trip. Everything you need, including burner, fuel and cooking vessel, is stacked and stored inside the 1.0-litre cooking cup.

If you want to boil two cups of piping hot water it only takes two minutes and the system lights with a simple click of a button. Even Norbs can start it!

The soft handle and pour friendly lid is also a huge asset that makes handling the unit a breeze. Another cool feature is the colour-changing heat indicator that’s built into the insulating cover and turns orange when your water is ready.

Sea to Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Air Mat

If packing light is a priority but you don’t want to compromise a comfortable night’s sleep after the big day on the water then the Comfort Plus Insulated Air Mat from Sea to Summit has ‘got your back’.

Featuring a dual-layer construction so on the off chance you have a puncture through the night you won’t wake up flat on the ground. It also has offset air sprung cells on both the top and bottom to help prevent cold spots.

Packing to a size of only 12 x 23cm and weighing 890grams this little bad boy won’t weigh you down and is easily stored out of the way until your ready to set up camp.
